“Older adults are rapidly becoming a much larger share of our population and I appreciated the chance to speak to The Saint Paul Foundation donors about the issues emerging with this shift,” said Simonson, who was on a panel. “It also was a great opportunity to have an exchange with others working on these issues.”
The Giving + Together event at the Minnesota Humanities Center featured a welcome from Dr. Eric Jolly, President/CEO of The Saint Paul Foundation and an overview of the state of older adults in Minnesota by Allison Liuzzi, a Research Scientist on the Minnesota Compass project at Wilder Research. The panel followed the presentation and included Simonson and Liuzzi as well as Mauricio Cifuentes, CLUES, and Ann Bailey, DARTS. The panelists discussed gaps statewide, how each organization is addressing aging issues and innovations being explored.
Jolly closed the event, saying that connectedness is the strength that will help aid older adults and their family caregivers age with independence and dignity.
